Profiles in Leadership: Jerich Beason, SVP, CISO, EpiqWhy Does Leadership Lag Behind Pace of Technology Change?
As a veteran cybersecurity leader, Jerich Beason of Epiq has seen historic evolution in technology and how it is applied. But in cybersecurity leadership? The "softer side" of being a CISO has lagged behind, and this is where he intends to be an agent for positive change.
In an interview with Information Security Media Group as part of the CyberEdBoard's ongoing Profiles in Leadership series, Beason discusses:
- Why the softer side of leadership needs more attention;
- The security threat posed by inaction;
- His efforts to recruit and train a new generation of leaders.
Beason has served in top cybersecurity leadership roles at Lockheed Martin, RSA, AECOM and Deloitte, where he was a trusted advisor to federal government leaders and Fortune 500 executives on strategy, architecture and program development. His responsibilities included facilitating more than 25 workshops helping new CISOs define their 180-day road map. As a recognized cybersecurity thought leader, he frequently speaks on panels, conferences and events and contributes to white papers and articles, in addition to hosting a monthly cybersecurity podcast and a biweekly live show for SANS.
