Psychology of Passwords: Neglect is Helping Hackers Win

The cyber security landscape been marred with big name and large-scale breaches: Cash Converters, Australian Defence, and Facebook, to name a few. Naturally, we expected to see an improvement in password behavior in the two years.

However, LogMeIn's new research revealed just the opposite. Password behaviors remain largely unchanged from two years ago - globally over 50% of people didn't change their password after a breach was uncovered. However, of the countries covered in the research, Australians understand the need to protect key accounts like medical and healthcare with stronger passwords. It's not all good news though - for any region - leaving the door wide open for improving password hygiene both at home and at work.

These findings are compiled into a brand-new eBook, The Psychology of Passwords: Neglect is Helping Hackers Win. Read our eBook to see how psychology plays into password security, including:

  • The reality of workplace password hygiene
  • Global differences in password creation and management
  • Which online accounts result in more secure password behaviors
