Fla. Sheriff's Office Hacked

Anonymous-associated hacking group LulzKnightz claimed responsibility for an attack against the Lake County Sheriff's Office in Florida. Hackers posted 16,000 files online, which include 911 calls, witness and victim statements, names of young crime victims, and names of Central Florida SWAT team members and their personal phone numbers, as well as the SWAT unit's operating guide, the number of team members and number of snipers, according to WKMG Local 6.

Former Hospital Employee Pilfers PHI

IntraCare North Hospital in Houston, Texas, is notifying former patients of a data breach last year that may have led to the filing of fraudulent federal income tax returns. A former employee had engaged in the unauthorized release of protected information, including name, address, date of birth and Social Security number, along with insurance information, according to a statement from the hospital.

The ex-employee is under indictment for fraudulent use or possession of identifying information. Fox 26 Houston is reporting that 741 patients were affected.

Anonymous Threatens U. of Pittsburgh

Hacking collective Anonymous posted a video on Youtube threatening the University of Pittsburgh to post a letter on its website apologizing for its lack of security in protecting students' personal information. The hackers alleged to have taken a large amount of information, from passwords to dorm information, credit data, coursework and grades. When reached for comment, the university replied, "We have examined our systems and have found no evidence of any breach."
