The recent WannaCry ransomware campaign has led to more healthcare organizations paying closer attention to cybersecurity and the latest threats, says Lee Kim of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.

In a video interview at Information Security Media Group's recent Fraud and Breach Prevention Summit in Chicago, where Kim participated in a panel about creating a security action plan, she addresses:

  • Why threat information sharing is critical;
  • Why organizations need to take a fresh look at their information security programs and practice defense-in-depth;
  • Why risk assessments are the cornerstone of information security.

Before joining HIMSS, a not-for-profit professional organization for health IT professionals, as its director of privacy and security, Kim practiced law in the areas of IT, healthcare technology, intellectual property and privacy and security. She also previously worked in the healthcare technology field. She is a licensed attorney in the District of Columbia and Pennsylvania and is admitted to practice before the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a registered patent attorney.
