Nedyalkov recently completed a doctorate in cybersecurity and information assurance, and his dissertation covered how information security professionals in Australia are viewing those challenges. He says his research shows there are big differences between what managers think about their information governance practices and what practitioners think.
"A lot of practitioners said they actually need more - more funding, more understanding of how things could be better mitigated because, again, when you have your data outside of Australia, you need to deal with a lot of regulations," he says.
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group as part of CyberEdBoard's ongoing Profiles in Leadership series, Nedyalkov discusses:
- How Australian companies are viewing compliance and risk with cloud technologies;
- How to cope with skills shortages and retain talent;
- What the role of a TISO, or technology information security officer, fulfills.
Nedyalkov is a technology information security officer with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Before that, he established the cybersecurity practice for the $24 billion Riyadh Metro transport network, one of the world's largest public transport infrastructure projects.
