Leveraging 'Multisectoral' AuthenticationJoni Brennan of Canadian ID Council on How IAM Capabilities Must Evolve
A collaborative "multisectoral" approach to authentication can help to ensure that government benefits are provided to the right recipients, says Joni Brennan, president of the Digital ID & Authentication Council of Canada (see: The Role of Biometric Authentication in E-Banking)
"It is important to identify specific cybersecurity capabilities within different industry verticals and make these capabilities available to the ecosystem," Brennan says.
For example, the monitoring capabilities of the highly regulated financial and telecom industries can be leveraged by the government to help with authenticating benefits recipients, she adds.
In a video interview with Information Security Media Group, Brennan discusses:
- How identity and authentication must evolve;
- How sectors can collaborate for identity verification;
- IAM trends in 2021.
As president of DIACC, Brennan builds on more than 15 years of experience in digital identity innovations and standards development. She has participated in committees and initiatives around the world and has testified before the U.S. Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.
