Leading Teams to Understand Creative and Critical ThinkingHarold Moss of Tautuk on the Importance of Context, Listening and Collaboration
Harold Moss, the CEO of Tautuk, has a strong background in building products, but many who work in cybersecurity do not come from a product background. In order to help cyber folks understand all of the components of a product and dependencies on assets outside of the company’s control, Moss recommends introducing the system's context.
He says: "One of the best-quality organizations in the world was NASA. And one of the things that NASA did is put the importance of what you were doing in the context of a life, which personalized it and made you think about the interconnectivity."
In this interview with Brian Barnier, the founder of Think.Design.Cyber. and an expert in critical thinking and design thinking for cybersecurity who is developing a course for CyberEd.io, Moss also discusses:
- Understanding the dependencies in today's distributed systems;
- The power of listening in building teams of active learners;
- Encouraging teams to focus on collaboration rather than competition.
Moss is the CEO of Tautuk (formerly vFortified) and a partner in 1414 Ventures. He is also a member of the advisory board of directors at Rebellion Research and board adviser at GreatHorn and Stock Smart. Moss has over 20 years of experience in security, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and mobile technologies and has spent a significant part of his career working on advanced technologies such as IBM Watson and leading strategy and architecture for EMC's Global Security Office.
