Moving Forward With Identity-Centric Security

Richard Bird of Ping Identity on IAM, 'Zero Trust'
Moving Forward With Identity-Centric Security
Richard Bird, chief customer information officer, Ping Identity

Richard Bird of Ping Identity focuses on identity-centric security for the new world in which identity is the perimeter.

He says that large enterprises that have multi-cloud environments, and therefore aren't easy to secure, need IAM solutions that address those challenges. And the "zero trust" model must evolve as 5G networks create an "app functionality-driven world," he adds.

In this episode of "Cybersecurity Unplugged," Bird discusses:

  • Federated SSO and the advantages of having a unified authentication layer;
  • The need to meet customers where they are - even if they don't yet have multifactor authentication;
  • How the Identify Defined Security Alliance, of which he is an executive board member, promotes zero trust from a best practices standpoint.

Bird is the chief customer information officer for Ping Identity. He is a former CISO and CIO, and he served as the global head of identity for JPMorgan Chase’s consumer businesses. Bird is also a member of the Forbes Technology Council.
