Cloud Computing: The Security ConcernsBlue Coat System's Brian Kenyon on Addressing Key Issues
Attacks against the cloud, using the cloud for command and control of malware attacks, and securing endpoints are posing big worries for all industries, says Brian Kenyon, chief strategy officer at security firm Blue Coat Systems.
During an interview at RSA Conference 2016, Kenyon discusses:
- How attackers are using the cloud to leverage malware attacks, making the origin of those attacks increasingly challenging to track;
- Why continued use of SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption is posing challenges for endpoint protection; and
- Why bring-your-own-device policies have "stalled" or taken a step backward at many organizations.
As chief strategy officer at Blue Coat, Kenyon is responsible for aligning a cohesive message and strategy across the company's portfolio. He also oversees a team focused on assessing the market landscape and translating those observations into value for Blue Coat's customers around the world. Kenyon started his career in security at Foundstone, which McAfee acquired in 2004, where he was the chief architect of the security operations center. He also served in a variety of roles within McAfee, including chief technology officer, and most recently as chief technical strategist.
