To stop fraudsters, iovation's John Marsden wants organizations not just to ask customers to verify their personal details. He also wants organizations to take a good, hard look at the devices that alleged customers are using.
"There is so much ID data for sale and for use by the fraudsters [that] to predicate your fraud prevention techniques on ID data is not the right way to approach it," he says. "You need a multilayered approach, and one of those critical layers is what [that] device means to you, how that device is interacting with you, and the reputation of that device across a shared network."
In a video interview at the recent Infosecurity Europe conference in London, Marsden discusses:
- Identity takeover, account takeover and other online fraud trends;
- The need to move past relying on passwords;
- Using devices to help prevent, spot and block online fraud, without impacting the user experience;
