When deploying automation in their security operations centers, organizations should start with “small and simple things,” advises Nat Smith of Gartner.

Smith recommends automating the “simple, easy tasks that are very repetitive and often prone to small human error.” And to help retain skilled SOC analysts, he advises organizations to “find projects that will help analysts stay mentally engaged or give them outlets for … creativity.”
