Ty Howard is the Chief Information Security and Privacy Officer for the City of Mesa. Mr. Howard has worked across various public and private industries and served in different leadership capacities. He is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Information Security Professional (CISSP), an adjunct College Professor, and a practitioner with over 20 years of industry experience. After Coaching Wrestling at ASU and earning his MPA, Ty's first exposure to City Government was in 1995 as a Graduate Management Intern. He supported City Senior City Leadership and elected Officials and later moved into IT Leadership positions in both the public and private sector. In 2005, Ty became the fourth recipient since 1998 of the PMI Eric Jenette Project Management Excellence Award to recognize his contributions to the project management profession as both a practitioner and an adjunct professor. He was also CIO 2007 Magazine 20 Leaders to Watch and has been part of senior-executive boards and served as a speaker at various state, national and international events. With a commitment to both continuous learning and professional development of self and others, Ty holds a Bachelor of Arts, Master’s in Public Administration, and a Master of Interactive Technology. Ty recognizes the value of being involved with organizations that focus on bringing industry together, to ensure intelligence, best practices and education around cybersecurity and is excited to be a member and speaker as part of ISMG’s mission.
