Acting Deputy Director of Health Information Privacy at the Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights

Iliana Peters currently serves as the Acting Deputy Director of Health Information Privacy at the Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights. In this role, she is the national lead for OCR enforcement of the HIPAA Rules, and works closely with OCR's ten regional offices to promote compliance with and enforcement of the HIPAA Rules. Additionally, Peters supports many other OCR policy and outreach initiatives, including rule-makings, compliance initiatives with other federal agencies, and training, including of the State Attorneys General. Prior to joining the team in D.C., she worked as an investigator in Region VI in Dallas, Texas. Prior to joining OCR, Peters worked in private practice in Texas.
