Moving to Office 365: The Security Concerns

As organizations prepare to transition to Microsoft Office 365, what should be their top security concerns - and how should they address them? Symantec's Deena Thomchick offers insight and tips.

Thomchick, Senior Director of Cloud Security at Symantec, says the top concern she hears from organizations amidst this transition is 'How do we stay compliant?'

"There are a lot of regulations out there today, and moving to the cloud has some unique elements to it," Thomchick says. "Directly associated with that would be concerns about 'How do I secure [our] confidential data?'"

A final and just as significant consideration: "Making sure threat actors aren't compromising their Microsoft Office 365 accounts."

In an interview on the transition to Microsoft Office 365, Thomchick discusses:

  • What organizations need to protect;
  • Malicious activity signs to monitor;
  • How Symantec is helping organizations make the move securely.

Thomchick is Senior Director of Cloud Security at Symantec. She's spent more than 25 years in technology with a particular focus on security. In addition to cloud security, her background includes work on encryption, advanced threat protection, network security and endpoint security.
